[ 22 June 2015 ] On Sunday 21 June IBTA Events and Activities Co-ordinator, Kiki Connor, joined representatives from three Yorkshire based brain tumour charities trekking Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, to raise awareness about brain tumours and participate in the IBTA’s ‘Walk Around the World for Brain Tumours’ campaign.
A party of about twenty walkers, plus three large dogs, set off on the ‘easy’ Llanberis route, wondering what lay ahead, and ignoring the fact that the train was happily chucking up and down all day. Although quite steep in a couple of places, the trek turned out to be not too difficult, but certainly quite long. Conditions were cold, cloudy and windy all the way to the top, but then the climbers were rewarded with the most amazing views on the descent as the cloud cover lifted.
Among those joining Kiki on on the climb were: Heather Othick (aka "Ellie's Mum" from Ellie's Fund Brain Tumour Trust); Rachel Finlay (Charity Manager for BT Research & Support across Yorkshire); Paula Holmes (The Katy Holmes Trust); IBTA supporter Marilyn Rankin; and Kiki's husband Andy.
A great day out was had by all and valuable mileage has been contributed towards the 2015 Walk Around the World for Brain Tumours total! To view some photos of the trek, check out our photo gallery here.
