In June 2023, the International Brain Tumour Alliance (IBTA) in collaboration with the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) organised a symposium in Vienna, Austria for patient advocates on brain metastases. Leaders of major cancer patient advocacy organisations attended from the fields of breast cancer, lung cancer, kidney cancer, melanoma and brain tumours to discuss the unmet needs of the metastatic brain tumour population. As a result of the Vienna symposium, a global brain metastases collaborative is now established which will take forward the challenges discussed in Vienna in the hope of improving support for people with brain metastases.
